It has been said that Sankara advocated Advaita because he thought that except by being interpreted as Advaita the Vedanta philosophy could not be saved. Ma:y inherit this philosophy of Sankara and therefore stick to it. But candidly speaking one who had thoroughly studied and understood it cannot help wordering. how this most irrational and untenable line of thinking not only rose to the level of philo sophy but secured for itself and occupied a very important place among the philosophies of the world. It appears that the wrong notion on the part of majo rity of scholars that the ultimate truth taught by philosophy must be devoid of all differences which pertaine to this world of ours, is responsible for it. Anyhow it is, so far as I have studied it, a fact that Advaita is not yet established. It is yet to be | rowcd.
