Kriyāpāda 107 and the temple is His abode. Our author has expounded the same truth in the following lines : (III.XII.16). प्रासादं यच्छिवशक्त्यात्मकं तच्छक्त्यन्तः स्याद् वसुधाद्यै स्त तत्वैः । शैवी मूर्तिः खलु देवालयाख्येत्यस्माद् ध्येयां प्रथमं चाभिपूज्या || The God and the temple correspond to the soul and human body. The temple building ceremonials and rituals are similar to the Jätaka-samskäras. It is based on this fundamental concep- tion that in temple architecture the various parts of a temple are designated by names which correspond to the names of the various parts of the human body. Terms like Päda, Carana, Kați, Gala, Grivā, Kantha, Mastaka, Mukha, Karna, Näsikā, etc., are instances. The three most important structural limbs of the temple are to be understood. The first is the base known by different names like Adhiṣṭhāna, Masūraka, Ādyanga, Kuṭṭima, Västvädhāra etc. The second is the Garbhagṛha-the covered and anclosed chamber in which the idol is installed. The third is the superstructure. In this chapter the first twenty types of temples are closely described using technical terms mentioned above. The section comes to an end with the following stanza. इत्थं समासान्नलिनादिकानि प्रोक्तान्यलङ्कारयुतानि तानि । शम्भोर्विमानान्युचितानि मुख्यान्यम्भोज गर्भस्य हरेश्चतानि || (29) The chapter deals with two categories of structures technically called Jätitara and Jativimanas. The first consists of thirty two structures beginning with Meru. These thirty two structures along with the twenty enumerated earlier belong to gods. Now the second category called Jativimānas pertaining to the members of the different caste is enumerated. Herein the details of twelve Brāhmaṇa-Vimãnas, twentyfour Kşatriya-Vimanas and eight Vimanas for Vaiśya and Südra
