The father, pressed ve४y ninch, becaune angry and told his son that he would give him away to Death.

behind Emi pratham bghwako eli dhyanah ।
Ain soid yaasyya kartavya y:n havidya larisyati ॥
I go ahead of many, I go in the Indst of many. What is that Death has to do, which he would have done by me
COMMENTARY :
Though thus spoken to (Naciketas) without fear or sorrow told his father tl : of all those who go to the abode of Death I shall be cither in the forefront or in the middle but never at the end. The intention is < I am not at all worried about going to the abode of Death1." (If it be asked) what is it that you are worried} about ? he replies :
kisoid : What purpose' has Death got which He is going to have done by me ? Is there any advantage with one so tendler as rit: to Death of fulfilled desires, where the gift of me to Hit will be of some 1se, as {the gift of lure) to Rtviks (will be). Therefore it is about this alone that I ann worried. This is the utention.

anupsya yathi prve pratipas]y¢ tathते pure
8aya ta artyah beeyate sasya or jiycle puch ॥
Refect on how the ancestors (were); ponder how the others (present ones are). Man ripens like cora ; bt is again born.
