COMMENTARY

Then the Veda speaks

tohasya adi : oneans to the world ; the meaning is the same as Stargya Beading to Swarga).

१e Agnim 4pace : taught that fire. The meaning is that he taught him all th16, the bricks, of what natureof what number and the manner in which they have to be piled. The ३ssimilation in yavat (yavati as : yavatyah must be the proper forni) is due to the exception in Vedic grammar.

sa ch¢j : He too : and Naciketas too at: all that he heard exactly repeated, this is the meaning. arthasya ca .. : Death pleased on seeing the ability to grasp (the instruction given) of his disciple spoke again.

COMMENARY

Eigh•iniuded Death well•pleased told Naciketas thus. " shall grant you a fourth boon. What it is he explains:
