Re:Ay (Siddhanta}; - rue. If the word 'scrg¢' was never used in respect of anything other than the ordinary svar ga (that is the place between the Sun and the Pole star, then it would be necessary to accept a noininal significance for it, so restricted as not to apply to it (liberation). But it is used to denote that (liberation) also. For it is found to be used in the following passages in the spiritual scriptures (adhyama Sastres४ such as the Taittiriya Araiya M¢ I. 27.3. Bhadrayakg and Talakara

Upaniends :~~

1. In that city there is a world-sheath of golden colour surrounded by lightWhoever knows that city of Brahman surrounded by aectar (bliss), to him the Supreme Self and Brahman grant long life, fame and progeny

2. " By it the wise, the knowers of Brahman, go up hence to the heavenly world, released' ". (Brh. J., 4.4 8)

B " He' verify who knows it, thus striking of evil becomes established in the most excellentendless heavenly world " (Kang J., IV ५.)

The nominal significance (of the word * starge') postulated by the Paur Knikas must be disregarded even ike that of the word agyakt¢' postulated by the Sankhyas, since in the very context (of the Katha Up) in the mantra (I. i 18) the word 'Carge tokg' which signifies the resultant of the combined ina and harma is explained even by others as meaning the 'abode called Vairaja, ' which is distinct from the world lying between the Sun and the Pole star.

Now, it may be said "The principle of signification (i. ८. being a world that is above the world of the Sun) being the same with regard to the place of Viraja, it is not a secondary meaning. (It is a primary one)." (To this we reply), the world of Brahman (abode of liberation} being the one that is above is not other than the primary sense. The usage such as " By the two path of sor go and spotargd liberation)", can be
