PREFACE. I gladly accede to the request of Pandit T. R. KRISHNA cARYA to write a preface to his new book, the Brihad . dhaturdpvali, mainly for two reasons. First, I cannot tefuse the request of { man , who by his publishing activi ties, has clone so much for the study of Sanskrit in general andl of Madhva philosophy in particula¥ . Secondly, I am convinced Lhat the Britaddhaturtpavali is an exceedingly useful book and deserves at the support and encouragement that Sanskrit scholas can give t. The name of Padit T. R. KRISHNACHARYA is ve]] known in the world of Sanskrit scholarsnoton!y in India but also in Europe and America. The Pandit comes of a poor but learned anड़ respectable family. The business of a publisher, such as Pandit KRISHIKACHARYA has been, is not the work of a poor man and the story of how young IRISHNACHARYA was led into it is interesting anळे shows the kind of staff that he is made of.
