अपहृत चेतः येषां तेषां dragged away, mind, whose, of them ; व्यवसायात्मिका determinate (see 41); बुद्धिः thought; समाधौ in Samadhi ; न not; विधीयते is fixed.
त्रैगुण्यविषया वेदा निस्त्रैगुण्यो भवार्जुन ।
निर्द्वंद्वो नित्यसत्त्वस्थो निर्योगक्षेम आत्मवान् ॥ ४५ ॥
The Vedas deal with the three attributes: l. be thou above these three attributes, O Arjuna; beyond the pairs of opposites, ever steadfast in purity, 2 careless of possessions, full of the SELF. (45)
त्रैगुण्यविषयाः = त्रैगुण्ये विषयः येषां ते the three attributes, subject-matter, whose, they ; वेदाः (the) Vedas; निस्त्रैगुण्यः with out the three attributes; भव be ; अर्जुन 0 Arjuna ; निर्द्वंद्वः without the pairs (of opposites); नित्यसत्त्वस्थ = नित्यं सत्त्वे तिष्ठति इति constantly, in sattva, (who dwells, thus; निर्योगक्षेमः = न अस्ति योगः च क्षेमः च यस्य सः not, is , earning, and, maintaining, and, whose, he; आत्मवान् full of the Self.
यावानर्थ उदपाने सर्वतः संप्लुतोदके ।
तावान्सर्वेषु वेदेषु ब्राह्मणस्य विजानतः ॥ ४६ ॥
All the Vedas are as useful to an enlightened Brah mana, as is a tank in a place covered all over with water. (46)
1 Gunas = attributes, or forms of energy. They are Sattva, rhythm or purity ; Rajas, activity or passion; Tamas, inertia or darkness.
