[ BHATTIKAVYA

 

‘उपशाम्यतु ते बुद्धिः पिण्डनिबंशकारिषु ।
लघुसत्त्वेषु, वषोऽयं यत्कृतो निहतोऽसकौ ॥ ५ ॥

न हि प्रेष्यवधं घोरं करवाण्यस्तु ते मतिः ।
एधि कार्यकरस्त्वं मे गत्वा प्रवद राघवम् ॥ ६ ॥

बिवृक्षुमॅथिली राम ! पश्यतु स्वाऽऽविलम्बितम्'।
तथेति स प्रतिज्ञाय गत्वा राघवमुक्तवान् ॥ ७ ॥

“उत्सुकाऽऽनीयतां देवी काकुत्स्थकुलनन्दन !’ ।
मां लिखित्वा विनिश्वस्य स्वराऽऽलोषय विभीषणम् ॥ ८ ॥

उक्तवान् राघवः ‘सीतामनयाऽलंकृताम्’ इति ।
गत्वा प्रणम्य तेनोक्त । मैथिली मधुर वचः ॥ ९ ॥

‘‘जहीहि शोकं वैदेहि ! प्रीतये धेहि मानसम् ।
रावणे जहिहि हृषी जहाहि प्रमदावनम् ॥ १० ॥

 5. May your mind calm down towards these insignificant creatures who make (their) living on morsels. The wretch by whom this crime was committed is slain.

 6. May the intention I shall indulge in the cruel massacre of servants, be not yours. Be inclined to do my work. Having departed, you speak to Rama :

 10. "Give up grief, Oh Videha Princess, set your mind on delight; dismiss hatred towards Ravana ; leave the ladies ' grove;
