( 38 ।। principle is to be followed in interpreting 'this' in the passage we are now considering. Sat is the one reality. There is nothing apart from it. But that reality is not, as has been already stated, a simple reality. Matter is its permanent ad junct. It was said that matter remains in a subt:e state. with no forms. no names. no difference what soever during the titne of destruction. Bnt during the time of creation it is in a gross state. Though this matter has changes and accordingly has different states it remains always an adjunct to Sat. So Sat is always wishishtc, a composite entity, and not a simple entity. This fact explains the name of the philosophy, Visishtadvaita, the view of oneness of truth which is a composite one. Sat possesses very many qualities also. It was said it is an intelligent being. It is omniscient. It has will and skill to do whatever it pleases, and its will never fails.
