7 Nilakaptha's favourite deity was Lord Siva installed in the famous temple at Trpparatitiod (Sanskrit Sri-5vetaraya) near his village ; g: श्री-श्वेतारण्यनाथ-परमेश्वर-करुणाधिकरणभूतविग्रहेण, in the colophon to the Bl; Bhaya quoted above (p. xiv) Satikara, the Brother, and Netranarayana, the patron Nilakantha refers to his younger brother Sarlkara in several places in the 48.8ldsy0. Sarौkara too seems to have been well versed in astronomy and followed his elder brother's studies. Thus, after describing some method on the Rule of three (7airasika) in his 28.Bhasya, Gapit 26, Nilakantha says how his brother who was teaching at the house of his patron explained to the latter some of those theories : 9f, (7ऽऽ 101, p. 156) Nlakantha observes at the close of the Bhaऽya on the Golpada that he was entrusting the Bhasya to Satkara for its proper propagation. Thus, just before the final colophon, Nilakantha says : । (7ऽऽ 185, p. 164) That Nilakaptha was intimately connected to and was patronised by Kaustaki Adhya Netranārāyapa, known locally as Azhvāticeri Tamp rākkal, the religious head of the Namputiri brahmans of Kerala, is known from several references in his writings . It is also clear that the patron had great estem for Nilakaptha's erudition in astronomy, in which subject he t00 was interested and used to discuss difficult points with Nilakantha. Thus, in the discussion on the calculation of the motion of planets (481., al.,22-25), Nlakantha says :
