Manuscripts of several works पृuoted by Nilakantha are yet to be unearthed and a detailed study of the Imumerous authorities quoted by Nilakantha is bound to throw welcome light on the ammals of Hindu astronomy As mentioned earlier, the textual verses of the Siddldrta-darp07 40 had been edited by me with Translation through the pages of the 4dy4ar Library Bulletir in 1955. The authorities of the Adyar Library and Research Centre graciously agreed to my using the said edition in the present publication with Commentary. I am extremely grateful to them for this kind gesture. From out of the ten manuscripts made use of in this edition, mine, being five manuscripts of the text, one of the Text with Commentary, and three of the Appendices, belong to the Oriental Research Institute and Mss. Library of the Kerala University Trivandrum.
