date of the manuscripts presenting the variants with the lifetime of the author and the variants trying to improve upon one another, would tend to suggest that the variants in the two groups have originated from the author himself who has revised his own text Appendix I. Ms. No. 5867-I of the Kerala University Mss Library referred to above, occurring in the same codex which contains Ms. B of the text. The text preserved is generally correct and free Appendix II. A, Ms. No. C. 2740 (folio 98 b) and B, Ms. No. C.2314 (folio 74) of the same Library. Both these are palmleaf manuscripts in Malayalam script, the latter being worm-eaten and con siderably damaged. The two manuscripts are closely related and appear to have descended from a common original. . The main work contained in the codices is the Kara१40p0ddharti of Putumana Somayaji and the present work is found amongst the miscellaneous matter inscribed at the close of the manuscripts. Auth07ship 0f Siddhanta-darpaa and Commentary Nlakantha quotes, in his Aryabhatya-Bhasya, from अविशेषणं विना सकृत्कर्मणा वापि मन्दकर्णः साध्यः । an earlier तच्च मया दर्पणे कर्णवृत्तांशबाह्नाडौमन्दे कक्ष्यैव नीयताम् । The passage quoted forms the second half of verse 27 of Siddhanta ८larpa12 edited here (see p. 24). Elsewhere in the same work, he quotes verses 22-24a of Sddhanta-darpar70 with the prefatory statement : अत एव मया सिद्धान्तदर्पणे सर्वत्र स्फुटन्यायातिदेशः प्रदर्शितः सामान्येन ‘ज्ञातभोगग्रहं वृत्तं' etc. In fact, the colophons to the several Text manuscripts of the work used in this edition read as follows, indicating the authorship of the work : Pp. 18-19 इति गाग्र्य-केरलसद्प्राम-नीलकण्ठ-विरचितं सिद्धान्तदर्पणं समाप्तम् । (p. 32). pada, Trivandrum, 1931, 7ivarldrum1 Sk.
