Again, Nilakantha freguently refers in his works to his Para71a guru Parame5vara and to his views, experiments and findings . There is however, a characteristic experimental finding of Parame5vara, which Nilakantha refers to in his Galapadi-grantha : अयनचलनांशाः *** अस्मत् (परम) आचार्येण ‘रसरामेष्वब्धि' (४५३६) मिते कल्यब्दे पञ्चदशभागाः पूर्णाः इति परीक्ष्य निर्णीतम ।* The Siddhanta-darp0120-yally20 reads, in a very similar situation : तदा अयनचलनांशाः धनात्मकाः पञ्चदशसंख्या बभूवुः। यतो भार्गव परमेश्वराचार्येण अस्मत्परमगुरुणा ‘चलांशास्त्वम्’(४५३६) इति कल्यब्दे परीक्ष्य पञ्च दशांशपूर्तिनिर्णीता । (p. 17). The identity of authorship of the above two passages is patent . In consideration. of the above, it can be stated with is the author C0ntents of Siddhanta-larpa11a The importance of Siddhanta-darp07१५0 lies in the fact that the author presents herein the astronomical constants as verified through his own observations and investigations. The passages expressing these constants having been adopted and commented upon by the author in his commentary, which latter happens to be one of his last works (see below, p. xxv), it could be taken that the values of the constants as given herein are the final figures accepted by Nilakantha. In the First Part of the work called Up2de50-blag८ (Theory Seetion), the author emunciates in twenty couplets (2-21), his view on the number of revolutions of the planets, their higher apses (7ar1docca) and ascending modes (61ghrocca) during a definite period of time, the epicycles of the equations of the apses (710171d-puridhi) and of conjunctions (5g/hra-paाridhi), the measure of the aeons (yuga-s), the velocity of the planets, the measure of the diameters of the Moon and the Sun, the position of the city of Avanti, the situation of the ecliptic (apakra710-y ta), and the conception of the epicycles. 1 In the Second Part called Wy]'4-bhaga (Practical Section) (verses 21-31), are set forth the eccentric and orbital circles (prati 10pdala and kaksya-71a१dala), the sines etc. of the angles measured 2.
