  • Sekhanokta-laksagena, which indicates that the Siddhanta :

Sekhara of Sripati was a very well-known treatise at the time of Bhaskarड़caryya. It was perhaps the lucid commentary added by Bhaskaracaryya to his Siddhanta-Siawomani that made it more popua and enabled it to durive Sripati’s Siddhanta sekhan out of the field Attention may now be drawn to some peculiar aspects of the Siddhanta-sekhard 1. Second correction for the position of the Moon :---In order that the calculated position of the Moon may coincide with or approximate very nearly to, the observed position, Sripati (Ch. XI, Slokas 2-4) has given a second correction. This closely resembles a second correction given earlier by Mujjala (Lughundrasam, Prokritdhakira, Slokas 1-2), which, as . is well-known, is not to be found in the writings of any previous writer. Nor did his (Sripathi's) successor, Bhaskaracaryya, supply any second correction of the Moon's position in his Siddhanta. from0pi, although he made good the omission by a lengtby discussion of the question in his subsequent work, the Vajopaga. 2. Correction for Udagantara (Equation of Time due to the Obliquity of the Ecliptic) :-This correction was formerly ascribed to Bhaskaréciryya, who has devoted much more than passing attention to this subject in his Goladhyयya and Capit]. dhyङya; but it now appears that he was anticipated by Sripati (Ch. XI, Sloka ) B. Agrantana correction. In the correction applied for the change of declination of the Sun, in connection with the method of determining the East-West line, it now appears that Bhaskarबैcyyya was forestalled by Sripati (Ch. I, 3}bia B), and Srtpati in his burn by Caturvedaciryya.
